WHY ARE WE ROTARIANS?

The answer is simple. We see opportunity at Rotary Club…
1. An opportunity to have a quality fellowship
2. An opportunity to work together to help the needy
3. An opportunity to build networking both nationwide and worldwide
4. An opportunity to promote peace and international understanding

I used to see Rotarian's gathered at a luxury hotel - when I was still a hotelier - having a huge meeting doing God knows what. My impression back then was, this is a "hoopla" club consisting of old and rich people who want to spend money and doing good things at the same time.
When I was a public relations officer at Sampoerna, I used to receive proposals from Rotary Clubs from all kinds of places. I still didn't get it. If they are so rich, why would they need sponsors?
Years after, I am a rotarian myself ! I guess there's this gut feeling that keeps nagging me to find out what this fuss is all about....besides the fact of the great influence from my best friend slash mentor slash consultant, Chris Maryanto, obviously. Anyway, I started to get the hang of it. And it's quite simple....just by getting to know these individuals who would spend their time, energy and money to try to do good things for others. Man ! I mean, this is big city, with all its big city "germs" all over, where people are caught up with all the survival tools, just to get by. And yet, these individuals, exist. No wonder this organization is international, and attract thousands of people across the globe. I don't need to work hard to find this reality, just by meeting these people, talking with them, working with them, and I got it. Making the world a better place...hoopla!

Me too had the same concept when I saw the rotary from outside. But, once I got entered in I could see a lot of plus in the rotary.I realize that the rotary is the best clay and it gets the best shape when it is handled by the best potters.
Now I am the president of Rotary Club of SPIC Nagar, Tamil nadu, Tuticorin.
With rotary on hands, we can serve...we can be good friend in deed to the needy...and we can realize why we are born. Yeah! we are born to become the winners of hearts of the humane.
